Alta has closed itself to all uphill traffic, which can only mean one thing: they’re preparing the mountain for downhill traffic. In fact, Alta has announced that they will be opening on Wednesday, November 25, thanks to Sunday night’s storm that brought colder temperatures and dropped 10 inches of snow on the Wasatch.
Two lifts will be running, including the Collins quad and the Sunnyside triple. Alta plans to open more of the mountain as conditions improve, but the two open lifts will start running at 9:15 am
Not all of Alta is closed to uphill traffic however. For those backcountry skiers who aren’t ready to shell out the cash for lift tickets quite yet can still skin up the summer road to Albion Basin and access the Grizzly Gulch, Supreme and Catherine Pass areas.
Alta will mark the seventh Utah resort open for the season along with Brighton, Solitude, Park City Mountain Resort, Snowbird, Brian Head and Wolf Creek.
