Ghost Falls Trail, Clark’s Trail, Canyon Hollow Trail, Bonneville Shoreline Trail and Jacob’s Ladder are all mountain bike hungry trails in Draper’s Corner Canyon. All of these trails can be linked together, creating a buffet-table of singletrack. One of the more popular variations is the Clark’s Trail/Ghost Falls Loop. This ride has just about everything, including gradual ascents, views of the Salt Lake Valley, shady groves of scrub oak, creek crossings, a waterfall, hairpin turns, and a few technical descents.
Corner Canyon contains a large network of mountain biking and hiking trails that are suitable for pretty much all abilities. There are short, before work out-and-backs, long loops, steep hill-climbs, technical descents, nice scenery, and links to other trails such as the Bonneville Shoreline.
Mountain bikers are usually able to ride the lower trails all year long as the low elevation keeps the snow away and the trails dry. The easy-to-reach trailheads are close to town, making Corner Canyon a crowded area, especially for those looking for a quick post-work ride. But the crowds are also a testament to how good the biking is. There are so many possible ride variations within the spiderweb of trails, that you can go back dozens of times and not do the same ride twice.
To do the popular Clarks Trail/ Ghost Falls Trail loop, park at the Equestrian Park in Draper, ride up the canyon among the monster homes, and veer right where the trail levels out at the Silica Pit. Continue up until the trail tops out on Traverse Ridge. Ride down the gravel road to the start of the Ghost Falls Trail and enjoy the looping, semi-technical downhill back to the car.
Of course, this is a simplification and it is easy to get lost because of all the side trails, spurs and forks-in-the-road. But whether you go up and explore the network alone, or ride with someone who knows the trails like the back of their hand, Corner Canyon will prove itself as one of the premiere mountain bike rides in the Salt Lake Valley.
