Running on roads may sometimes feel like it isn’t really outdoor recreation. Sure you’re outside, in the fresh air, enjoying sunshine, maybe rain or cold, at the mercy of the elements. But you’re on a man-made surface. You’re monotonously jogging on pavement – something that has very little variation. The road is a place where concentrating on what the ground is doing is of little concern. In addition, you’re probably running in a town or city to boot. It’s time to hit the trails, and the Park City Mini-Trails Series can help you make the transition.
The Park City Mini-Trails Series is a group of organized running events tailored to introduce novice trail runners to the joys of singletrack and dirt. The runs take place at Round Valley in Park City which is well known for its beginner and intermediate trails.
Coming up on July 10th is the Park City Mini-Trails 10k at Round Valley. The run begins at 8am at the Quinn’s Junction Trailhead. There will be aid stations, mile markers and trail directions, volunteers to help out, and a finish line with free food to feed that post-race hunger. Runners will also have a chance to win prizes like stainless steel water bottles, bumper stickers and more. Winners will receive trail running shoes from The North Face.
Then on August 14th, participants will have to step it up on a 15k trail run, also at Round Valley. The time and place remains the same as the 10k.
The Park City Mini-Trail Series is organized by R-U-N? Events. Visit their website for more information or to register for the 10k and 15k races.
