Utah is host to one of the world’s biggest mountain triathlons once again as the XTERRA USA Championships takes place at Snowbasin on Saturday, September 25th. This event is the culmination of the 67-race XTERRA American Tour, and will be the venue where pro athletes will compete for $80,000 in prize money.
The XTERRA triathlon is also the venue for amateur athletes from around the country to compete for the national title. All they have to do is be the best at a variety of mountain sports on the XTERRA long course which includes a 1.5km swim, a 30km mountain bike ride, and a 10km trail run. There’s also a short course for the more casual athlete with a 750m swim, 19km mountain bike ride and 5km trail run.
In addition to all this, XTERRA is hosting a half-marathon in wheeler canyon that runs from Pineview Reservoir to Snowbasin Resort.
Not one of the lucky competitors? No problem. The XTERRA USA Championships have something for everyone to be involved. There are parties in downtown Ogden with highlight films from the day, live music, food and drinks. Plus, you can always watch and cheer on the competitors. Give ’em some cowbell!
Plus, if you do find yourself at XTERRA, you’re invited to hang out at the Suunto Social Media Lounge. They will be providing free public use of computers with wi-fi during the event so you can give friends and family running updates on race results on Twitter, upload pictures to Facebook and make everyone jealous about how much fun you’re having at Snowbasin. You can find the Suunto Social Media Lounge in the Expo area at Snowbasin. It will be open from 10am to 2pm.
The XTERRA USA Championships happens on Saturday, September 25th and begins at 7:30am with events kicking off throughout the day. For more information, find it at xterrautah.com
