Wolverine is a brand I had never heard of before the Outdoor Retailer 2011 Winter Market, but after visiting their booth and seeing the quality of their boots and shoes, I think it’s a brand that we’ll be seeing a lot more of. Below is just a small sample of their 2011 selection, and a look at their interesting “Individual Comfort System.”
First up is my personal favorite boot from Wolverine, the Fulcrum. It’s a backpacker’s dream with full leather uppers, beefy, lugged Vibram soles and classic styling.
Next is a good example of the mid-cut hiking boots in the Wolverine lineup, like the Pulse off-road hiker. It’s a boot for those looking for lighter weight and more breathability but with the usual burly Vibram soles.
On the women’s side is the Burst mid cut off-road hiker. It has all the same bells and whistles as the mens version, but with feminine looks and colors.
But most impressive from Wolverine is their innovative Individual Comfort System. It allows the wearer the ability to change the amount of cushioning in the heel of the boot based on preference or activity. All it takes is removing the insole, and turning the disk to enhance inner support, increase outer support, add cushion, or make the shoe more firm. It’s a provacative idea and I’m curious to see how it works on the trail.
These boots will be available in 2011. For more information or for current selection, visit www.wolverine.com
