Skiing in Utah is still going full blast. Meanwhile, skiers are missing out on mountain biking that is already approaching peak season in southern Utah and western Colorado. While Moab and the St. George areas are home to our favorite desert trails, we also take road trips to another sweet place to ride this time of year; Fruita and Grand Junction, Colorado. Our friends, Jared Anderton and Tony White, made the drive down there this past week and found perfect weather and trail conditions for a little spring biking and put together this video.
Anderton and White hit the trails around 18 Road in Fruita, along with the Tabeguache/Lunch Loops area in Grand Junction that Anderton describes as, “very technical, intricate and challenging.” They also checked out the Horse Thief Bench in Loma which was, “also a pretty cool ride with amazing scenery. You could spend an entire week exploring the trails around Fruita/GJ and still not ride all of them.”
If you’ve pretty much tapped out all the mountain bike trails in southern Utah and want to explore something new, then give Western Colorado a look. Fruita is only 18 miles across the Utah/Colorado border, only about an hour further than Moab when driving down from Salt Lake.
