Brunton has been in the outdoor recreation business since 1894. The company may be old, but their products are anything but old-school. Brunton is stepping up their product line when it comes to outdoor lighting and solar power, and they were showing off plenty of new gear out the 2011 Outdoor Retailers Summer Market.
The innovations start with Brunton’s lighting solutions. They are pushing USB based power supplies, and all of their new gear charges or runs off of USB compatible power sources. The Link is a small cube of light, and multiple units can be linked (get it) by USB cables according to need. The Noodle light is mounted to a bendable stem and is ideal as a reading lamp or can be used to help brighten up your keyboard if you’re one of those backcountry tech-geeks.
Our favorite in the new lighting line is the Wow. The stick-like lantern is mounted to three flexible legs, and the legs can be removed and double as a tripod. It can be contorted to wrap around tent poles, tree branches and tons of other structures.
As for solar power, Brunton is stepping up there, too. They unveiled their updated solar sheets- the sheets can be rolled up for easier storage and are USB friendly. There is also a salt water friendly version of the solar sheet; this one doesn’t roll up but is engineered to harness the sun’s power in harsh salt water environments. Brunton will be integrating all of these products into their Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 gear, so check your store shelves if you are in the market for some teched-out lights and power sources.
