Utah-based ProBar was at the 2011 Outdoor Retailer Summer Market handing out samples of their delicious energy and meal replacement bars. They have new flavors and bar styles to wet people’s appetites (including a new gluten free line) and were especially excited about the new Halo line of “candy bars” that are actually organic and healthy.
According to ProBar, the Halo bars are a smart way to satisfy your sweet tooth in that they are much lower in sugar and fat compared to a typical candy bar, they use brown rice sugar instead of corn syrup, and they are loaded with flax and hemp seeds to protect against many ailments like heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure. Plus, they’re high in essential fatty acids like Omega-6 and Omega-3.
After sampling them all, I thought the S’mores flavor was the best. It really tasted like S’mores cooked over a campfire with marshmallows, graham crackers and chocolate. Of course the other flavors were good too, like Rocky Road, Honey Graham, and Nutty Marshmallow. I wouldn’t mind having any of these flavors sitting in my pack, waiting to be devoured during a mountain biking or hiking trip.
Of course the rest of the ProBar lineup was there as well, such as their original collection meal replacement bars that they’re best known for, as well as the new Sweet and Savory and Fruition bars.
Also exciting news is that ProBar will soon be releasing a line of gluten-free bars. You may cringe at the thought but I sampled two flavors of them and they were actually delicious. I couldn’t tell that they were gluten-free at all. Look for them to be stocked on store shelves in the near future.
Thanks for the OR coverage, UtahOutside! Great to see you at the PROBAR booth!
