Fall is arguably the best time to mountain bike in the southwest corner of our state, and that’s probably why October is when the Hurricane Mountain Bike Festival takes place. This particular bike fest is one you want to attend, especially if you’ve never explored the slickrock and singletrack around St. George, Hurricane and Zion National Park.
Hurricane Mountain Bike Fest happens from October 14-16, and organizers promise good times with festivities, bike demo, beer gardens, dutch over dinners, giveaways and more. It all starts on a Friday morning, where you can start the day riding a killer demo bike on some of the best trails in the region. That night, sit down and enjoy a Dutch Oven Dinner social with your fat tire fellows.
Saturday starts off right with a pancake breakfast, followed by even more mountain bike rides. If you’ve had enough fun in the dirt, that afternoon you can go back to base and compete in the Clinker Crit and Foot Down competitions (whatever those are) to win some sweet prizes. That night is the festival party, complete with live music, good beer, a raffle and gear giveaways.
Before heading home on Sunday, have coffee with your buds at Over the Edge Sports and get in one last ride.
