Will technology never cease? With the proliferation of pocket-sized cameras flooding the outdoor recreation marketplace, it’s never been easier to document your totally rad descent of Wicked Hell Peak, or show off that epic mountain bike ride through Tacky Love Canyon… so to speak. Everything from HD GoPros to our smartphones allow easy recording and uploading of POV adventure videos. But a production company is taking things a step further with their 360-degree view of the Slickrock Trail mountain bike ride.
This Slickrock Trail video is a killer way to look at our world-famous ride, and show off the beauty of Moab’s desert as never seen before. With this system, not only can you get that POV footage, but also see yourself within the landscape as it zooms by.
While a gnarly outdoorsman (or woman) won’t be able to make their own 360 panoramic videos yet (this system is still in its infancy,) it’s still cool to think about the possibilities of where this technology will go in the future, and what it may mean for how we will someday watch outdoor films and movies. What’s even more amazing, is that we’re already holding the technology in our hands – on our smartphones.

The video is cool! It could be real fun to be able to capture your experience from 360 degrees while you are biking. I guess I should give it a try too.
