The Tour de Brewtah returns to Salt Lake City, as the third annual event hits the streets on May 5th, 2012. The Tour de Brewtah’s motto is, “Ride Bikes. Drink Beer. Do Good.”
The event provides cyclists with a fun ride through Salt Lake City and its environs, while visiting Salt Lake’s excellent craft breweries along the way. But it’s not all about riding bikes and drinking beers. The ride also supports non-profit organizations. All proceeds from the event are donated to local non-profits that are engaged in a variety of community building work.
According to the Tour de Brewtah website, the ride will begin in Library Square in conjunction with the Live Green Festival. From there cyclists will ride various designated routes to participating local breweries, including Squatters, Red Rock, Desert Edge, Uinta and Bohemian. The final party location for everyone involved will be held at Piper Down.
You’ll have two routes and times to choose from at the time of registration. There will be a 12 noon wave and 1 pm wave, each with a Route A and Route B for total of four waves.
Route A will begin at Library Square, then go to Desert Edge Brewery at Trolley Square, followed by Uinta, Squatters, then finishing at Piper Down where Bohemian beers will be served.
Route B will also start at the Live Green Festival at Library Square, then pedal to Red Rock, followed by Squatters and Uinta before finishing with beers from Bohemian at Piper Down.
The Tour de Brewtah sold out in its first two years, so you better get your spot, like, right now. Registration begins March 28. Seeing as how it’s a massively fun event, costumes are encouraged as well as crazy bikes. The more creative, the better!
As for the non-profit organizations that will benefit from the proceeds, they include: The Children’s Justice Center, Intermountain Therapy Animals, and the Utah Pride Center.
