Friday video: Quarter Past Midnight

Oh, if only all ski movies could be shot so artistically and edited so creatively as the shorts from Salomon Freeski TV. Case in point, their newest release, which is this week’s Friday Video, “Quarter Past Midnight.”

Salomon describes it as thus:

Under twinkle of stars and light of moon
spirits roam the world at night
emerging cold and frozen
from shadows left and right
more richly colored than the day
they’ll play ’til dawn’s first light
set your clocks, the fun begins at quarter past midnight

Originality is key in making a ski flick stand out, and boy does this movie have it. The shots are gorgeous as skiers flow down ghostly white slopes, backlit behind shadow pines. Then near the end, a surprise as skiers become weird, neon, Tron-like creatures, walking in from the darkness. You just have to see it to understand, and you can watch it below:
