For the last 13 years, SLUG Magazine has left their underground urban fortress to head in the hills for the annual SLUG Games. The SLUG Games is an amateur ski/snowboarding series with funky twists and inventive competitions that can only come from the people at SLUG. This year is the 13th annual SLUG Games, and the theme is “Revenge of the Nerds.” The competitions will take place at Brighton and Snowbasin in a jam format with a course, “customized for geeks and dweebs.”
Organizers say they will completely take over the mountain, customizing the terrain park into a “Mathlympics” course where competitors will be jibbing and jumping over obstacles like giant protractors and calculators. Of course, costumes are just about a give-in, so put tape on those thick-framed glasses, iron your short-sleeved dress shirts and pull out that pocket protector. Skiers and snowboarders alike are welcome to enter, and registration is free.
The 13th Annual SLUG Games happen on January 19, 2013 at Brighton, and on March 16, 2013 at Snowbasin.
