Back in January, Ragnar, along with Salomon, announced the big news that the Ragnar Relay would take to the trails for the first time and Utah would be the first place to host a trail event. That race is happening at the Zion Ponderosa Ranch in April. Today a new stop in the Ragnar Relay Trail Series was announced. Snowbasin will play host to the “Ragnar Trail Snowbasin” this August.
According to the Ragnar website, Snowbasin will feature three courses:
Green Loop: “This trail starts out with a short burly climb. Once you have conquered the first ascent you will encounter a canopy of pine trees. Your feet will kiss the pine covered trails as the sunlight, or starlight, filters through the limbs. At mile 1.75 you will encounter the picturesque Green Pond. From there you will begin a steady ascent as you admire Mount Ogden looming in the distance. Eventually you will descend and return to Ragnar Village.”
Yellow Loop: “This loop offers some majestic views. You will begin the run with a beautiful and challenging ascent. As you ascend you will be rewarded with an incredible view of the surronding Wasatch mountain peaks. This trail will allow you to expore the beauty of the Wasatch-Cache National Forest.”
Red Loop: “This trail begins on the same trail as the Yellow. Just under 2 miles the trails split and this trail runs high above Ragnar Village. You will be rewarded with panoramic views of Pineview Reservoir and the Wasatch Mountain Range.”
Here’s a map of the courses:
At the beginning and end of each loop, you’ll find the Village – party central for all athletes. The village will have a bonfire, live music, food, unlimited coffee and hot chocolate, games, and camping with a best decorated campsite contest.
