When you think of sailing, images of smooth ocean water, California beaches or World Cup races over torrent waters may come to mind. Utah most definitely doesn’t come into the equation. But there is actually a surprisingly large number of lakes and reservoirs in Utah where you can not only sail, but find world-class sailing right in our backyards! The Great Salt Lake and Bear Lake are just two good examples of places you can hoist sheets and ride the wind, and KSL Outdoors recently dedicated an entire show on the subject. So we’re featuring it as this week’s Friday Video.
The show is divided up into 3 segments. The first highlights the peace and beauty of sailing the Great Salt Lake with the GSL Yacht Club. The second finds the show’s host, Adam Eakle, in over his head as he gets a sailing lesson from a salty sailor. And the final segment takes viewers up north to Bear Lake where we discover why it’s called “The Caribbean of the Rockies.”
