So ski season is still months away, but summer activities like lift-served mountain biking and hiking are winding down. What’s a ski resort to do? How about throw a brewfest and drink the fall away? Snowbasin is doing just that with their First Annual Snowbasin Beer Fest on October 5th.
It seems the Germans were on to something by making their beer festivals take place in the fall, because there’s nothing else to do at elevation this time of year. At least that’s the excuse you can tell yourself as you enjoy craft beer from eight local Utah breweries. Not only will excellent suds be on tap to slake your thirst, but there will also be Oktoberfest-style food on hand like bratwurst, sausages, and sourkraut. Plus if you’re not into German food, ‘Merican fare will also be grilled up.
Of course you can’t have a brewfest without live music, so cue the band “Two and a Half White Guys” on the stage. They will be playing beer-friendly ska and rock music all afternoon.
The best part is that there is no entry fee whatsoever. The beer, however, well, you have to pay for that. Tokens can be purchased for $2 each which will get you a 6oz sampler, whereas 2 tokens gets you a full size beer. Also, high-point beer will also be poured, so it’s a good chance to experience seasonal and specialty brews from your friendly neighborhood beermongers.
