We’ve been keeping tabs on Ogden-based Klymit since their inception, and every time we visit their booth at Outdoor Retailer, we’re always impressed with the new ideas they keep coming up with. Their line of inflatable camping pads seems to be the main focus as of late, and they once again offer something that’s outside the box. In addition, a new, unique backpack was on display that turns the idea of internal frame on its head.
Static V Luxe
The Klymit Static V Luxe is the company’s newest camping pad. They say it’s the largest and most comfortable pad in their entire line, and yet it’s still light enough and packs down small enough for backpacking excursions. Features include an anatomically patterned V-chamber design, with side rails that keep you from rolling off the edge at night. The pad is also thick: 3 inches to be exact, as well as 30-inches wide and 76-inches long. Despite its girth, it inflates in only 16 breaths. Weight comes in at 26.35oz. MSRP is $89.
Inertia O Zone
For you “light is right” backpackers, check out the new Inertia O Zone. Klymit says it combines the comfort fo the Static V with less weight and more warmth. Loft pockets prevent cold spots on your back when you sleep, and there’s an integrated pillow, so you’ll never have to use your rolled-up puffy jacket again. Weight is a feathery 13.2oz. MSRP is $99.95
Motion 35
Backpacks are a new venture for Klymit this year, and their initial offering is the Motion 35. It has all the usual features of a panel loader, but what sets it apart is the Air Beam Framesheet. Essentially it’s an inflatable internal frame to give the pack tons of stability, yet it keeps it flexible enough to move with your body. On top of all that, it’s pretty light at only 1.53 pounds. MSRP: $149.95
