The mountains and deserts around Monticello, a small town just south of Moab, sees very little tourism. And yet, the recreation opportunities are just as good, if not better than its famous neighbor to the north. As advocates for Monticello and all of southeastern Utah, Roam Industry is setting out to promote this gem of a landscape. Roam offers guided bike-packing trips through spectacular terrain, but to take the company to the next level, they need our help.
On November 18th, Roam Founders, Dustin and Natalie Randall, held an Indiegogo launch party at Saturday Cycles in Salt Lake City. They showed everyone their vision, the bikes, and the trips they hope to take people on. Their passion for Monticello is obvious to see, and the Indiegogo campaign will help them get there. Like all crowd funding campaigns, they will give prizes to people who donate – everything from a High Five for $5 to a 3 day, 3 night guided trip for 5 people for $4,000.
Roam believes that everyone is “Built to Roam,” and their focus is to, “function as a pressure release valve from the machine of life by providing means for human powered recreation.” if they reach their $15,000 goal, they will be able to build and launch a fleet of bikes specifically made for roaming the backcountry. They also say the money will not only help them build bikes, but also, “help build and lead a movement to find common ground and respect for the land and promote experiences that connect us to it in a more genuine way.”
