Salomon has a ton of new shoes coming out for Spring ’16, especially in the running department. So let’s get to it and see what you might be running/hiking in next year.
Salomon S-Lab Sonic
Salomon is well known for their trail running shoes – so much so that’s it’s basically woven into the company’s DNA. But they’re going to shake things up a bit next year when they dive into the street-running shoes category. The S-Lab Sonic will lead the charge with city-specific features like an 8mm drop, breathable mesh upper and ample cushioning and protection against the constant pounding of even pavement. This shoe is aimed at high-level runners and also features SensiFIT technology, 3Dflex, endoFIT, Contagrip, 3D ProFeel chassis, Energy Cell+ and EnergyCell midsole. Basically, it looks like Salomon is taking all of their shoe technologies and are going all–in on this street shoe. Marathons will be won in a pair of these babies. MSRP: $170
Salomon S-Lab Pro
The next level down in Salomon’s street running lineup is the Sonic Pro. It has much of the same technologies as the S-Lab verson but is a bit heavier with a lower price point. Still, it has SensiFIT, 3D stretch air-mesh, 3Dflex, and EnergyCell midsole. MSRP: $140
Salomon S-Lab Sense 5 Ultra
This new shoe is geared toward long-distance runners with a combo of light weight and just the right amount of cushion and grip. It’s 20 grams lighter than previous versions thanks to a new lug geometry, premium WET Traction Contagrip, Profeel Film chassis, and a triple-density compressed EVA midsole. It also has a redesigned mesh upper for maximum moisture transfer. MSRP: $180
Salomon Wings Pro 2
This trail running shoe is built for technical terrain, and is especially constructed to give runners more comfort and control on steep descents. It does this with a redesigned Agile Chassis and ProFeel Film and “descent control technologies.” Other features include 3D air mesh, mud guard, protective TPU toe cap, SensiFIT, and more. MSRP: $140
Salomon Crossamphibian
In the water category, Salomon will soon offer the Crossamphibian. It combines a running bottom and wet grip sole with a stretchy, close fitting, mesh upper that dries fast and prevents debris from getting into the shoe. New water-specific grip with rubber siping means you can walk on slippery rocks with no fear of slipping. With this much traction and protection like a toe cap and Skinguard upper, I see this as a perfect shoe for summertime fly fishing or pack rafting. MSRP: $120
Salomon Quest Prime GTX
In the burly hiker category is the new Quest Prime GTX. It’s a light, athletic backpacking boot with added cushioning and protection. It’s rigid with an Advanced Chassis and reinforced heel band, waterproof split suede upper, water resistant textile, SensiFIT and much more. MSRP: $190
Salomon X-Alp LTR
For day hiking, check out these X-Alp LTR kicks. They have a serious approach-shoe vibe with leather uppers, sharp sole edges and protective rubber all around. Features include 3D Edging Chassis, vertical construction, mud guard, heel strap, mountaineering Contagrip, and injected EVA midsole. MSRP: $150
Salomon Instinct Travel
For an everyday, urban shoe, Salomon will offer the Instinct Travel. This shoe has a die-cut Ortholite sockliner, SensiFIT, and tons of traction from hiking lugs under a street-shoe inspired upper. Toss these on for global traveling.
