Salt Lake City’s own DPS Skis has a whole new construction coming out for the 2016/17 season – Foundation. The Foundation skis were the highlight of the DPS booth at the 2016 Outdoor Retailer Winter Market. According to DPS, Foundation is a totally rebuilt ski that they designed from under the foot, spreading outward to the tip and tail. Essentially it’s a ground-up redesign of the Hybrid line using bamboo and carbon. They say that reorganizing the “design drivers” optimized the “relationship between the flex pattern and sidecut” that creates better feel and ski sense in every model they make.
What is perhaps the biggest news about the Foundation construction is that the price point will be much more affordable. DPS skis run around $1,200, but these new skis will allow the everyman entry to the DPS world at a more reasonable $800 or so. Plus, check out those crazy two-toned color topsheets. DPS has gone off the deep end.
New skis coming out with the Foundation line is the Lotus 124 and Wailer 106.
In addition to the Foundation line, the Lotus 124 will also be available in the Pure3 line, and the Wailer 106 will be available in the Pure3 and Tour1 lines.
Expect to see these new DPS skis in the backcountry and in-bounds for the 2016/17 ski season. Until then, check out DPS for the current offering.
