The Wasatch Mountains are a special place. Nowhere else can residents of a major metropolitan area access a range as easily as those of us living on the Wasatch Front. As a result, these mountains have a profound influence on millions of people, not just here in Utah, but around the world. Held every April, the Wasatch Mountain Film Festival aims to reach those same people by showcasing the best documentary mountain adventure, environmental, and cultural films of the year.
2016 is the Wasatch Mountain Film Festival’s 2nd year, and will be held throughout the month of April at venues across the Wasatch like Park City, the University of Utah, Brewvies, Jordan Commons, and the South Towne Expo Center to name a few. Check the festival website for exact dates and locations.
The 2016 festival films include:
- Sierra Quitiquit: How Did I Get Here
- STREIF – One Hell of a Ride
- Walk the Ridge
- Broken Landscape
- Crash Reel
- Humble Pie
- Martin’s Boat
- Life in a Legend’s Shadow
- Darklight
- 62 Years
- Paradise Waits
- Walk in the Park Wasatch Range
And much more…
Festival passes cost a mere $15. To purchase, visit wasatchfilmfestival.org If you can’t make it to the fest in Utah, then you might be able to catch it on tour. Check their website for more details.
During the festival, three films will be awarded honors. The Shame McConkey Award goes to the best adventure short film, the Mallory Award goes to an outstanding individual featured in a film, and the People’s Choice Award goes to the crowd favorite.
Along with the films, the Wasatch Mountain Film Festival includes interactive panel talks, free community events, outdoor programming and presentations that organizers say work together “to form an inclusive and inspirational experience aimed at inspiring audiences to question how we interact with the world around us.”
