Want to better explore one of Utah’s National Parks? There’s an app for that. The official National Park App Developer, Chimani, has released a free Capitol Reef National Park app for iOS and Android platforms.
Located in southern Utah, Capitol Reef is one of our state’s least known National Parks. Next to Arches, Zion, Bryce Canyon and Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, with its red rock cliffs, deep canyons, sandstone domes and natural bridges, silently stuns visitors who have the gumption to explore off beaten path. But with a new app, the “Reef” is not more accessible than ever.
The Capitol Reef app is described as “the ultimate tool for planning a trip.” Features include:
- Interactive guides and maps to more than 220 unique points of interest
- GPS-enabled maps that work without a cell or Wi-Fi connection
- Calendar of Ranger-led events
- Sunrise and sunset times with top viewing locations
- Augmented reality viewer
- Photo gallery with more than 140 high-quality images
- Audio-guided auto tour
In addition, the app will work despite limited cell service at Capitol Reef.
According to Chimani CEO, Kerry Gallivan, this app is the 26th National Park app that is available for download.
“We’re extremely excited to launch the fifth app of the “Mighty Five” Utah National Parks,” Gallivan says, adding, “In this, the centennial year of our National Park Service, visitation to our national parks is expected to reach an all-time high, and the new Capitol Reef app will join our existing Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, and Zion National Park apps in helping travelers explore Utah’s great treasures.”
To download the free Capitol Reef National Park App, or any of the other park apps currently available, search for it at the iOS App Store, Google Play, and Amazon AppStore.
