Water bottles are pretty much all the same, right? You fill it with water, then take it with you to drink later. But, it turns out, not all water bottles are created equal. I found this to be especially true after testing the new Clean Bottle Tritan Square. Okay, so it’s different because it’s square instead of round. But oh is there so much more, which I will get to in a moment. But first, the details.
The Clean Bottle Tritan Square features:
- BPA free materials
- Quarter twist caps for easy removal
- Durable and Leak Proof
- Ergonomic handle for easy carrying
- Water Filter and Fruit Infuser
- Lifetime Guarantee
- Dishwasher Safe – Top rack
I’ve been carrying my water around with me during my work days, and in the pack on outdoor adventures for around two months now, and overall I am very happy with it. Here’s a breakdown about why.
First, the bottle is square. This is an advantage for one key reason – it won’t roll away when you drop it. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to crawl under my truck to retrieve round water bottles after opening the car door with full hands. But with the Tritan Square, problem solved. No more worrying about your bottle rolling off a table, or even off a mountainside after setting it down atop a summit. This is a “no duh” design feature that probably should be incorporated in all water bottles.
Second, the quarter-twist cap with handle. I carry my water in my hands frequently, and the large handle is super nice. With most water bottles, you get a loop that you can only fit a single finger in. But your whole hand fits inside the Tritan Square handle. The advantage? Less chance of dropping it (see above).
Third, you can incorporate a water filter or fruit infuser. The bottom of the bottle screws off, so you can easily install either of these accessories when needed. I personally used the fruit infuser and it makes my water taste great. I packed it full of blueberries and strawberries, with a few mint leaves from my herb garden, and had amazing-tasting water all day long.
Finally, the fact that the bottom of the bottle is removable is a huge advantage for another key reason – cleanliness. Most water bottles are impossible to completely clean. The mouths are too narrow to fit your hand in to scrub the bottom of the bottle, and if you use a brush, there is no guarantee that you are making contact with all surfaces. But if you can screw the bottom off, like in the Titan Square, it’s so easy to get in there for a good cleaning.
I only have one gripe and it is this: I like my water bottles to be insulated. I hate drinking lukewarm water, so I usually carry a vacuum-sealed, insulated bottle everywhere I go. Cold water all day, baby. Now if Clean Bottle could come up with an insulated version of the Tritan Square, it would be the greatest water bottle ever invented.
The Good: Square shape keeps bottle from rolling away, cap handle for easy carry, fruit infuser or water filter compatible, removable bottom for easy cleaning.
The Bad: Not insulated.
Final Word: If you’re tired of the same old thing in the world of water bottles, grab yourself a Tritan Square. It’s funky, it’s user friendly, and it’s far more sanitary that the bottles of old. Pick one up at www.cleanbottle.com
