This year’s Outdoor Retailers Winter Market wrapped up nearly two weeks ago, but there are still plenty of highlights to share from my day at the show. With so many companies showcasing new and improved goods, it can be tough to get them all covered. Here is a look at some more highlights from the show:
Seirus: The pun is too easy, but it won’t stop me; Seirus is serious about keeping you warm. Ok, that’s terrible, but what’s great is their new offerings in winter gloves. The Heatwave+ Spiral Glove is the cure for those of you with frigid fingers. They feature 300g Heatlock insulation, and the exterior is a premium goatskin leather. The Heatwave+ is form fitted, and touchscreen compatible. If you don’t need to go all out, the DWR treated Solarsphere Quest Glove is a good alternative, and knocks down the insulation to 80g.
Sanuk: The ultimate spring through fall lounging footwear gets a cold-temp upgrade for 2017. The women’s Big Bootah and Nice Bootah both have faux shearling wool for heat, and yoga mat insoles for max comfort. For men, the Statton Duck boot and Cargo Duck have vulcanized construction, beefed up soles, soft flannel lining on the interior.
Yaktrax: If you need extra grip on winter hikes and peak baggingh attempts, but feel like a standard crampon is overkill, then the Yaktrax Summit is for you. 3/8in carbon steel spikes bite into snow, ice and other winter slop, providing outstanding grip in bad conditions. A Boa closure system ensures a custom fit, and nixes the chance of these mean mothers from slipping off your boots.
Eagle Creek: Road trips are life, and Eagle Creek has plenty more offerings to keep you Adventuremobile organized. Their Cargo Hauler Duffel bag is upgraded with D-rings to help ease the removal of shoulder straps (one of our only gripes during last year’s review). Additionally, there are two upgraded luggage series, as well as an array of ditty bags and other travel accessories that the #vanlife crew will appreciate.
Balega: Comfy feet are happy feet, and Balega builds socks aimed at keeping runners and hikers happy. The new Silver sock has a compression-like fit that helps in enhanced arch support. Silver ions are incorporated into the stitching, with the idea being that they will provide antimocrbial properties. Basically, silver= less funk in your socks, never a bad thing in my book.
