Wow, after what has been a so-far record breaking season, it seems premature to be talking about spring and estimated closing dates at Utah ski resorts. Yet here we are. Ski Utah released a list of closing dates for the 2017 season, which of course is always subject to change. In addition, there are several spring events at Utah’s 14 resorts, which makes this time of year among the best to hit the slopes.
According to Ski Utah, 6.7 feet of snow falls in the Wasatch in April, on average. With Brighton already sitting pretty with a 555-inch+ snow total, you can bet the resorts are filled in, the rocks are buried, and the spring months will be epic. Here’s hoping for an all-time corn cycle.
Along with the warmer temps and sunny days, there are tons of spring deals and events. Take, for example Snowbird’s spring pass. With the longest season in Utah, combined with the huge amounts of snow that has fallen, you can bank on Snowbird being open well into summer… like July.
You can always count on pond skimming events in the spring, and Park City Mountain has the best in the state. As part of the 16-day Spring Grüv event series, you can dress up and brave the frigid waters while attempting to skim across on skis, or just take in outdoor concerts and other fun activities. Spring Grüv runs from March 25th – April 9th. Check out the full lineup of events HERE. Brian Head will also be hosting a Spring Carnival April 1, with lots of activities to be enjoyed with the family, and the following day (April 2) head over to Beaver Mountain, to participate in the annual Beaver Bash and pond skim.
