If you love your bike as much as I do, then protecting it from thieves is of the highest priority. Unfortunately, most bike locks on the market are either safe but too heavy and expensive, or they are affordable but not a very good theft deterrent. But the Foldylock Compact by Seatylock is different. I’ve been using the Foldylock Compact as much as I can this spring, and so far it’s been the most convenient and easy-to-use bike lock I’ve found.
The Foldylock Compact features:
- Six hardened steel links
- Ultra-protected rivets
- Anti-drilling components
- Rust and UV protected
- Plastic-coated for bike frame protection
In the past I’ve used cable locks, but always thought they were annoying to transport. I would either wrap the cable around my seat post, or loop it as tight as I could to fit into a backpack. Cable locks are also notoriously easy to cut and the lock mechanisms can sometimes even be unlocked with a simple writing pen. The Foldylock is a whole different beast.
Here’s what I like about the Foldylock Compact: First, like the name suggests, it folds down into a tight package that you can easily hold in your hand. Second, the folded lock slides into a carry case that you can screw into your bike frame using the bottle cage holes. You can also use included Velcro straps to attach it pretty much anywhere on your bike frame. I’ve also just thrown the lock into a pack before. Third, this lock is seriously burly. While it folds down small, the lock is pretty heavy, which adds confidence that it will withstand any attempts to break it.
Plus, this bike lock just looks cool. It is available in a variety of colors to suit your style. Hell, mine even matches my Diamondback Mason paint job perfectly as you can see in the photos (I didn’t do this on purpose, I swear.)
The Good: Folds down into a small package, built with burly, unbreakable materials, super convenient to carry, looks cool on your bike.
The Bad: I have no complaints or suggestions for improvement. This bike lock rocks.
Final Word: Whether you have a pricey bike, or a beater, either is a target to be stolen. Buy a little peace of mind with the Foldylock Compact. I’ve left my bike locked in downtown Salt Lake City and it was always waiting for me there. But if anyone did try to steal my two-wheeled baby, I’m confident this lock would save the day (and my wallet).
