Klymit is best known for their super light-weight and packable sleeping pads, but this year at the 2017 Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, the company is showing off a new rugged side with the Armored V. Plus, their backpacking pads have gotten even lighter with the Klymit V Ultralite SL and Insulated V Ultralite SL pads. In addition, an updated KBS sleeping bag is being released in a 35-degree summer weight.
Klymit Armored V
A first of its kind, the Armored V sleeping pad is rugged. Sick of getting punctures in your inflatable pad? No worries here. The model they had on display at their booth was laying on a bed of broken glass and sharp sticks. The pad has all the comfort features of Klymit’s Static V, but with the addition of 300,000 “precisely positioned” armored SuperFabric scales on the underside that provides an impenetrable barrier to anything that pokes, cuts or slashes.
The only downside? This pad doesn’t pack down quite as small as a standard Klymit pad.
Klymit V Ultralite SL and Insulated V Ultralite SL
Klymit’s new backpacking pad are even lighter than their previous models. the Ultralite SL line weighs in at only 11.9 oz, yet is still large enough for a grown man to sleep on, is 2.5″ thick when inflated, and is made from 20D ripstop polyester. The exclusive V-chamber design (which we all know and love) creates a sturdy platform and creates loft pockets for your sleeping bag.
The insulated version has all the same features, but comes filled with synthetic insulation that has an R-value of 4.4. Still, it only weighs 15.9 oz so you wopn’t have to worry about weight when winter camping.
Klymit KSB 35
For sleeping bags, Klymit has the new KSB 35. This bag is redesigned from the popular KSB 20 down sleeping bag and is lighter and more compact with 650 fill down. At a rating of 35-degrees, this bag is ideal for summer camping. It also has length locks so you can change the length of the bag if you’re short, and no-snag zippers. You get all this in a package that weighs only 1.9 pounds.
All of these new products from Klymit will be available in the next few months. Check them out at klymit.com
