A brand new trail system opened up this past summer in Kamas, but hikers and trail runners were dismayed to discover them to be mountain-bike only. The High Star Ranch trail network has nearly 17-miles of singletrack forbidden to those on foot… except for this weekend at the first ever 5k trail run on Saturday, October 7th 2017.
The South Summit Trails Foundation are hosting this trail running race in conjunction with the 8th annual Recycle Utah Harvest Festival, featuring local crafts, delicious food, and more.
Race organizers have special permission to allow runners on the trails, and it’s all for a good cause. Registration is happening now and costs $40. The race starts at 8:30.
Register now, because slots are filling up fast and time is running out.
The South Summit Trails Foundation advocates for non-motorized recreational land use in Utah’s South Summit area. They plan and build sustainable trails for runners, hikers, bikers, horses, skiers and more. They do this to connect communities in all areas of South Summit County to each other and to communities adjacent to the area. Check them out at southsummittrails.org
Thanks for the trail system!!! Wish we could run on it!
