After a dismal start to the 2017/18 ski season, we can celebrate because snow arrives in Utah just in time for Christmas.
This week a small storm system swept through the state, bringing 6 inches of snow to the Cottonwood Canyons, and 9 inches down south at Brian Head. Over the weekend, another wave of snow is expected to hit. According to the Utah Daily Snow Report at OpenSnow.com, a sleeper storm will make its way into the Wasatch. We can expect snowfall early Saturday morning into Sunday.
Snow totals at resorts like Solitude and Alta should be 6-12 inches. On top of that, even more snow is possible on Christmas Eve. It’s going to be a white Christmas after all!
For those of you traveling to Utah this holiday season, you might want to stick around. Two more systems are on the radar until the new year.
In addition, Alta is opening the new Supreme lift this weekend. The high-speed-quad version of Supreme will be opening Saturday, December 23. There will be a ribbon cutting at the base of the lift at 9:30am. That also means new terrain opens for holiday skiers.
