Southern Utah mountain bikers have something huge to look forward to when ski season ends. Brian Head Resort announced plans to build a mountain bike park this summer.
According to a press release, Brian Head will team with the National Forest Service to heavily invest in the reconstruction of their existing downhill mountain bike trail network beginning this summer. Expert trail-builders, Momentum Trail Concepts, will do the work repairing existing trails. They will also design and construct a new lift-served downhill trail system.
Phase One
The first phase of the new mountain bike network will involve a complete reconstruction of the resort’s current intermediate trail from top to bottom. They estimate that this project will take approximately six weeks. After that, Color Country is next for a complete transformation into an easier, modern and fully excavated flow trail that will span approximately 3.5 miles. The resort plans to have that trail completed by mid July, just in time for the First Annual Rock ‘n Ride Festival on July 14th & 15th.
Phases Two and Three
Updates on Phases Two & Three will be posted on the Brian Head website on social media. Plans will most likely involve the modernization of the Z-Line and Timberline trails.
In addition, the Forest Service will also invest in the reconstruction and improvement of their famous back country trails, including Bunker Creek and Dark Hollow. They expect work to commence as soon as the snow melts. The current plan intends to have one fork of Bunker Creek completed and available to shuttle by July 4th.
