Last week, Ski Utah announced expected 2014/15 ski season opening dates for Utah’s 15 ski resorts. On that list, it showed Alta and Solitude vying to be the first resort to open on Friday, November 21st. But, right on cue, and so predictably, Brighton, who originally announced a November 22nd opening, suddenly dropped the ropes and spun the bull wheels, kicking off the season with a Tuesday, November 18th opening. Winter is officially here!
Before opening, Brighton got the stoke going with the Pre-Season Rail Jam. According to Brighton’s Facebook Page, over two hundreds kids jibbed the terrain park features. Coalatree supplied grilled Brats while Stance tossed out socks for random bits of trivia, clean tricks, and any other excuse they could think of. Kids of all ages and abilities were able to mix it up with some of their favorite am and local pro riders including Chip, Hammid, Alex Andrews, The UnderDawgs and Lick The Cat crews. Nitro awarded outerwear prizes for impromptu mini challenges including the double line and best tail block/hand plant. As the dust settled after five glorious hours of pre-season fun Stefan Salisbury was awarded a Nitro deck for men’s best overall and Jill Perkins was awarded a pair of Nitro Bindings for women’s best overall.
Then on Tuesday, the resort made it official with two lifts opening and $37 day passes. Check out the video from Park City Television for highlights:
Alta, Snowbird, Solitude and Brian Head are all expected to open on November 21st.
