Mountain biking is everywhere in Utah in the spring, especially in the desert regions. The San Rafael Swell may not be well known around the world like Moab, but “The Swell” has a lot to offer the fat-tire crowd as well. The annual San Rafael Swell Spring Mountain Bike Festival is one way locals are trying to showcase the area.
Better get down there because it starts May 14th and goes through the 16th in the San Rafael Swell near Green River. Guides who are familiar with the trails in the area will take groups of mountain bikers all over the Swell, including a traverse of the legendary San Rafael Reef.
The event is more than riding through central Utah’s spectacular scenery, however. Pancake breakfasts, dutch oven and spaghetti dinners, free t-shirts and a raffle for prizes are all included in the deal.
Registration starts on Friday at 1pm with a warmup ride at 3. All the rides over the next two days are fully guided and supported with sag wagons and staff. Sounds pretty cushy, doesn’t it?
