Epic Brewing Company knows how to make beer. They also recognize that bikes, like beer, make people happy. In fact, the guys at Epic are bicycle lovers who encourage cycling and bike commuting in our city. Must be the reason why they’re hosting a beer tasting party as a fundraiser for the Salt Lake City Bicycle Collective. The event is called Beers for Bikes, and it promises to be an “Epic” outdoor shindig.
Beers for Bikes happens on Saturday, October 23rd from 1 to 8pm, right outside Epic Brewing Company in the parking lot at 825 S. State Street.
A $10 donation gets you in the door (and a commemorative Epic Brewing Company tasting cup) and all proceeds benefit the Salt Lake City Bicycle Collective.
As for the beer, $1 tokens will get you 3-ounce samples of Epic’s various, award-winning craft beers. In addition, several restaurants will be slinging food to soak up all that beer in your belly. Vinto, Poplar Street Pub, Cali’s Natural Foods, and the Sun & Moon Cafe will serve dishes that pair well with Epic brews.
But before the party even starts, everyone is encouraged to join the Epic Bike Parade at high noon. Dress up in outlandish costumes, fly your bike & beer freak-flag, and pedal from the brewery to Liberty Park, around the perimeter, and back to Epic where DJs will be spinning music to greet your valiant arrival. The Salt Lake City Bicycle Collective will also provide a bike valet service so you won’t have to drive.
The Salt Lake City Bicycle Collective is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote cycling as an effective and sustainable form of transportation and as a cornerstone of a cleaner, healthier, and safer society. The Bicycle Collective provides refurbished bicycles and educational programs to the community, focusing on children and lower income households.
