The Tour de Brewtah returns!
The 2nd annual Tour de Brewtah happens on May 7th, and this year, the ride that combines cycling with microbrews will be even more of an adventure. Remember those “choose your own adventure” books from your childhood? Well the search for beer-on-a-bike will be just like that as event organizers will hand you a map so you can follow the route of your preference, complete with excursions and new stops.
Confused? Just know that the Tour de Brewtah combines two of the greatest things in life… beer and bikes. What makes the event even better is that the ride helps support local, non-profit organizations. Essentially, Tour de Brewtah (described as Utah’s finest quaff and pedal push) is a ride that involves exactly what it sounds like. Bike enthusiasts ride around town, touring Salt Lake City from brewery to brewery (in costume of course!)
Last year, riders surprised everyone with the creativity of their costumes, and this year should be even bigger and better. In fact, organizers are looking for themes and teams and will be handing out prizes for the most killer outfits on the tour.
This year’s tour starts between 11:30am and 1:30pm on May 7th. During that time you and your buds can start your ride, but don’t dally because the breweries will open their doors at noon. Wind your way around town, and choose your path to each of the following brew pubs and locations in Salt Lake:
Squatters
Desert Edge
Red Rock
Uinta
The Beerhive (serving Bohemian)
and The Live Green Festival
The wrap up party will begin around 4pm at the Live Green Festival at Library Square, with live music, food, beer and prizes.
Registration costs $40 and includes 4 pints of beer, a meal, commemorative pint glass, and the knowledge that you’re supporting a local non-profit organization like Splore, Utah Clean Energy and Cottonwood Canyons Foundation.
