There’s nothing many fathers like more than a beer and barbeque. So for Father’s Day Weekend, Snowbird is hosting its third annual Brewfest on June 18 and 19, with a barbeque on Sunday. Over a dozen Utah breweries will be present slinging cold ones on draft to dads who are lucky to have children and/or wives who are thoughtful enough to take them to the ‘Bird for their special day.
Along with the dizzying amount of local beer on tap, there will also be live music and the afore-mentioned Father’s Day barbeque. The Sunday BBQ will be all-you-can-eat with a choice of two eating periods. The first is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the second is from 1:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. It sounds fancy too, as Snowbird says they’ll have minted cut watermelon, pineapple-glazed mahi-mahi, Southern-style baby back ribs, corn on the cob, and a bunch more. Plus, if you purchase a barbecue ticket, you’ll also get a free Aerial Tram ride. Adults cost $18.95, children age 6-12 cost $10.95, and children age 5 and under are free.
While you’re enjoying some brews and food, live music will be playing all day. Bands include RAG, UniPhi and .357 String Band on June 17. On Sunday the 18th, Wafer, Legendary Porch Pounders and Marinade will perform.
But a brewfest is all about the beer, and breweries will include Bohemian, Desert Edge, Red Rock, Uinta, Hoppers, Ruby River, Moab, Wasatch, Squatters, Roosters, Park City, Shades of Pale, Epic and more. They’ll be serving 3-ounce samples of beer for $1 each.
“The expanded Brewfest will be a fantastic way to kick off our summer season,” said Bob Bonar, President of Snowbird. “Families can relax and enjoy the festivities while Snowbird does the grilling at our special Father’s Day Barbecue.”
Music and brewery sales will begin at noon and end at 7 p.m. each day. Festivities will also feature crafters/vendors pedaling their wares.
Father’s day weekend is also the kickoff of Snowbird’s summer season, and all the rides will be operating, including the ZipRider, climbing wall, bungy trampolines, ropes course, air jumper, mechanical bull and kids inflatables. Snowbird will continue running the Aerial Tram to provide hiker access to Hidden Peak.
Of course, skiing and snowboarding will also be going on Fridays through Sundays until July Fourth (including Monday, July 4), conditions permitting. That means you can hang out at the Brewfest, eat food, listen to live music, play on the summer rides, and go skiing or snowboarding, all in the same day. That sounds like the best Father’s Day Weekend EVER!
