How much vertical do you think you can ski in six hours? How and you and three of your ski buddies? Well you can find out for a good cause at Bob’s Vertical Challenge at Snowbasin on February 28th.
Bob’s Vertical Challenge, which is entering it’s 5th season, is a charitable ski event that helps fund underprivileged youth programs through Scoutreach, and the Trapper Trails Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Basically, you organize a team of four, and everyone gets a GPS that tracks each participant’s vertical feet skied in a six hour period.
Teams will have free reign over the entire mountain, so the event has a bit of strategy involved as well. Will you get more vert by lapping the Strawberry Gondola, or would it be better to range far afield, trying to ski every run possible on Snowbasin’s trail map? Better get that vertical plan in motion, because teams that ski over 100,000 feet get sweet swag like a Bob’s Vertical Challenge window decal that will let everyone know you belong to an exclusive 100k club.
Race registration starts at 7:30 in the morning at Snowbasin, and the event begins with a LeMan’s start at the bottom of the halfpipe. An awards ceremony and swag giveaway happens after the race.
All proceeds from Bob’s Vertical Challenge go to Scoutreach of the Boy Scouts of America.
