Aron Ralston to share survival story in Utah

Aron Ralston, the hiker who famously cut off his own hand in Utah’s Blue John Canyon (which the film “127 Hours” was based on) will tell his story of survival at the 2012 Grassroots Outdoor Alliance Show on June 13 in Ogden. Along with Ralston’s inspirational presentation, a special screening of the Oscar-nominated film “127 Hours” will happen at Peery’s Egyptian Theater on June 14.

Of course we all know the story by now, of how in 2003, Ralston traveled seven miles into a remote area of Utah’s canyon country, where he accidentally dislodged a boulder that crushed and pinned his hand. After six days of entrapment, he freed himself with a cheap multi-tool knife and hiked to a miraculous rescue.

On Wednesday, June 13 at 8pm, Ralston will talk about his harrowing experience of being trapped in the canyon for days, as documented in the movie “127 Hours” and his bestselling book, “Between a Rock and a Hard Place.” An autograph session will follow the presentation that evening. Then on Thursday, June 14 at 7:30 pm, a special screening “127 Hours” will occur. Whether you’ve already seen the movie, or even read his book, it’s a totally different experience to hear this now-legendary Utah tale being recounted by the man himself.
