Utah has some of the best mountain biking in the world, and we’re privileged to have it all right here in our back yards. But sometimes you just need to cut loose and explore the singletrack in neighboring states. That’s just what Utah mountain biker and friend of UtahOutside.com, Jared Anderton, did recently when he took his bike to Colorado and rode the legendary trails at Telluride and Crested Butte. He shot a ton of footage along the way and put together and excellent video.
Here’s how Anderton describes it on his Vimeo page:
“I had long heard stories about flowing singletrack and incredible scenery high in the mountains of Southwestern Colorado, so I hit the road for a week to explore. My riding plans in Telluride, which included the infamously difficult Wasatch Trail, were dashed by rainy weather, so I was limited to a couple rides on Prospect Trail. Although I didn’t get to climb to nearly 13,000′ as planned, the scenery I found was impressive nonetheless. My good friend Jordan met up with me in Crested Butte, where we rode the 401 trail, Doctor’s Park, and then rented bikes at Evolution Bike Park for our first experience with downhilling. I returned from this trip with a whole new perspective on high altitude mountain biking and how difficult yet rewarding it can be. There are still so many destinations in Colorado to explore, and I can’t wait to go back.”
