Enduro mountain bike races have taken center stage in Utah, and the center of it all – the Bell Enduro Cup – is entering its second year with even more events at new locations in addition to the classic at Canyons Resort. Registration is still open, so jump on this opportunity to experience European-style enduro racing.
So, what is European-style enduro racing anyway? Basically it’s a mountain biking stage race using a rally-style format involving timed competition stages on the descents with uphill transfer stages in between that are not factored into the overall time. However, there is a set time limit on the climbs so you can’t slack.
Already this year we saw the new Enduro Cup at Magnificent 7 on May 4th in the popular Gemini Bridges area just north of Moab. Up next on the calendar is the Bell Enduro Cup at Canyons Resort on July 20 and Sundance Resort on August 18. According to race organizers, the Bell Enduro Cup at Canyons Resort features a true European format with six stages covering 17 miles, three timed technical descents and three untimed climbs. While the climbs are untimed, there is a cut off time. This race is also the only North American Enduro Tour stop in Utah.
Sounds like racers will be treated to a sweet event at the Canyons Resort village. Along with Park City’s signature, aspen lined trails, the race will also provide professional chip timing, a post-race meal, athlete gift bag and raffle. The event concludes with a free concert featuring JJ Grey & Mofro.
Registration includes race-day lift ticket, lunch, t-shirt, and raffle ticket to win prizes from Enve, Ergon, Club Ride, Bell Helmets and Canyons.
In addition to the race at Canyons Resort, a very special ride for Juniors and Women led by top pros will also be offered at Canyons Resort July 17. Register today by visiting: http://endurocup.athlete360.com/
