DPS Skis has totally changed the way we think of rocker with the release of the Spoon. New for the 2014/15 ski season, the Lotus family of DPS skis will feature the spoon shape, which will expand spoon technology to a whole variety of skis. Other new skis include an updated Wailer 112RP, Wailer 105, and Cassiar 95
First up is the Lotus 138 Spoon. Spoon technology has been infused in this DPS classic, which means it now has a convex shovel along with a new flex profile. It’s still a rockered ski with sidecut, but with a more dramatic edge. Throw in carbon’s lightness and dampness, and this looks to be a ski that would kill it at Alta on a powder day.
The Wailer 112RP will have a new look next season with the Wailer 112RP.2 These second-generation sticks are a total reboot as it will have lower tip and tail rocker profile to increase stability in mixed snow. DPS says it will have a larger sweet spot and will include a women’s version in the Yvette 112RP.2
The Wailer 105 also has a new look, with a new sidecut, and tip and tail rocker profiles. It will be available in Pure3 and T2 construction.
Finally, the Cassiar 95 went on the docket at Outdoor Retailer. It’s an addition to their all-mountain line. The 95mm underfoot provides enough float for storm days, and the flat tail crushes the groomers.
Along with all that, DPS also announced the news about new Hybrid t2 construction. It’s another way they will be making skis to give core skiers options on what kind of personality they want their ski to have. Basically, Hybrid T2 is a metal laminate construction with a blend of Titanal, glass and carbon.
Look for all these new skis from DPS to become available for the 2014/15 ski season.
