Park City’s trail system is huge. With over 400 miles of IMBA Gold level certified trails for mountain biking and hiking, there is really no place like it anywhere else in Utah. From Glenwild, to Deer Valley, Summit Park and everywhere in between, the spiderweb of singletrack can be confusing, so if you’re new to the area, you’re going to need a map. Every year, the Mountain Trails Foundation releases an updated trail map, and for 2016, they want to feature a user photo on the cover.
If you ride, hike, or even photograph wildlife on the Park City trail system, and have a vast photo archive sitting on your computer, then now if the time to sift through your best shots and submit them for consideration. According to Mountain Trails Foundation, they want the map to remain “home grown” and that’s why they want actual trail users to be a part of this year’s map in a big way.
The winner of the photo contest not only gets to see their sweet shot featured on the map cover, but they will also be able to choose any piece of Mountain Trails Foundation gear to take home, including high end stuff like their jealousy-inducing Marmot jackets.
If you want to enter the contest, then here are the rules:
- You must be willing to release the rights of your image to Mountain Trails Foundation. This means that even if you don’t win, MTF has the right use your photo for anything, including posting the pic on their Instagram account, using it in blog posts, or any other promotional material.
- The image must be at least 1.5MB and 2400×3200 in vertical format.
- The photo must be “trail centric.” This means the image should feature the diversity of Park City’s trails. Don’t feel limited to mountain biking photos only. Go ahead and submit those pics of hikers, wildlife, dogs, or just the beauty of singletrack weaving through a canopy of fall colors. Be creative!
- You are allowed to enter more than one photo, but remember that you give up the rights to all photos you submit.
- Entry deadline is April 30th. On that date, they will pick their three finalists. The winner will then be chosen at the Mountain Madness Trail Event on May 26th.
