Generations of boots… Vasque has been around a long time and has a whole ancestry of boots in their lineup… you could call it a “saga.” Well, at the Outdoor Retailer 2017 Summer Market, Vasque showed off a boot combining their most advanced technologies called, you guessed it, the Saga GTX.
The Saga GTX is described as a “modern all-mountain backpacking boot” that is light enough to be fast yet capable. It features a durable mesh upper and breathable toe and heel counters for extra protection and temperature/moisture control. It also has a Vibram MegaGrip outsole for excellent traction, and a TPU torsional wishbone chassis that cradles the foot.
Other features include double-stitched waterproof Nubuck leather upper, GORE-TEX extended comfort waterproof membrane, dual density ATC midsole, dual density anatomical footbed, moisture-wicking textile lining, and premium hardware and speed hooks for secure lacing.
The Vasque Saga GTX will be available Spring, 2018 in both men’s and women’s versions and a variety of colorways.
As we all know by now, Outdoor Retailer is leaving Salt Lake City for “greener” pastures in Denver, but Vasque isn’t saying goodbye without a parting gift to Utah. To express their gratitude and thanks for 22 years in Salt Lake, the company will help Utah’s kids to get outside, which they hope will “leave a positive legacy with Utah residents.”
To do this, Vasque partnered with the Outdoor Foundation to acknowledge Utah’s important contributions to the outdoor industry at this year’s show. Outdoor Retailer attendees showed their appreciation by writing down their favorite outdoor experience in the state and shared it on a tower for all to see. This tower of memories paid homage to the greatness of Utah’s public lands.
Because Vasque says they are committed to empowering and equipping young people to get outside and create formative adventures, each story shared through the Thank You Utah campaign will provide the resources to get Utah youth into the backcountry through Parks 4 Kids.
Through a partnership with Parks 4 Kids in combination with the company’s in-kind donation, they believe that while Outdoor Retailer is moving away from Utah, this campaign will hopefully leave the state better than they found it by ensuring that discovery of the incredible places in Utah is possible for years to come by young Utahns.
