Three Utah ski resorts will join dozens of others under a new season pass called the Ikon Pass. When Deer Valley sold to a new company that is now known as Alterra, many wondered if this huge conglomerate would introduce a season pass to compete with Vail Resorts’ Epic Pass. Well now we have the answer. Alta, Snowbird, and Deer Valley are the three Utah resorts included in the Ikon Pass, which will go on sale for the 2018/19 ski season.
According to a press release, the pass unites 12 destinations from Alterra Mountain Company along with 11 other destination partners. This will give skiers and snowboarders access to 50,000 acres across North America. There will also be varying levels of access and cost. Other nearby resorts include Jackson Hole, Steamboat and the four resorts belonging to Aspen Skiing Company.
“Alta Ski Area is pleased to be a partner destination for the Ikon Pass. We feel that Alta’s authentic skiing experience in a natural mountain environment complements the Ikon Pass network of aspirational skiers and the other iconic destinations in the Ikon Pass community,” said Mike Maughan, President and General Manager, Alta Ski Area.
