Mountain bike season is here, and that means it’s time to tune up your bike and start planning summer rides. Be ready with knowledge of where to go with my new guidebook, Mountain Bike: Park City. Published by Mountaineers Books, this guide breaks down the most fun bike rides in Park City’s complex network of singletrack trails.
Mountain Bike: Park City
Park City, Utah, is the world’s first International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) gold-level ride center. Already famous for its ski resort, the town and surrounding area features over 400 miles of singletrack. Its mountain-bike friendly infrastructure includes two lift-serviced, downhill mountain bike parks (Deer Valley and Park City Resort); a free, bike-friendly shuttle system; and numerous outdoor shops that rent and sell gear. But it’s the singletrack network around Park City that is the real attraction–epic ascents and descents, long traverses, technical sections, man-made features, steep climbs, gentle grades, flowing downhills, and stunning views.
Inside the guidebook
Each route includes:
- 47 routes emphasizing the most enjoyable singletrack
- Trail type, distance, elevation gain/loss, high point
- Estimated ride time, technical difficulty, aerobic intensity
- Topo maps with connecting trails
- Route overviews, turn-by-turn mileage logs, options to shorten or extend when available
- Clear directions to trails with trailhead GPS coordinates
- Overviews of top trail networks
- Lists of shuttle and guide services and local bike shops
Mountain Bike: Park City highlights the 47 best singletrack rides in the area. Park City’s trail system is so vast and interconnected, it can be intimidating. So my goal with this book is to break down the best loops, out-and-backs, and bike parks.
Three years of research (read: riding bikes) and countless hours at a computer have come to this. It’s always a thrill to hold the end result in my hands with the knowledge that mountain bikers visiting Park City will soon get to read it. Copies are in the warehouse and available now. Get yours at Mountaineers Books or Amazon.
To those who made this book possible
A huge thank you to my wife, Callista Pearson, for her patience and understanding as I disappeared every weekend to “research” this book. Thanks to all my friends who helped me on rides and for being photo models. And a big shout out to Jay Dash for providing the cover photo.
Many thanks to Basin Recreation and Mountain Trails Foundation for giving us the singletrack we love to ride. Without those non-profits, mountain biking in Park City would not exist as it does today.
Purchase the book at Mountaineers Books today, then get to Park City and ride! And while you’re there, pick up my other guide book, Backcountry Ski and Snowboard Routes: Utah.
