The Big LePowSki, despite the creative reference to the cult-classic movie, “The Big Lebowski,” can’t be any further from what “The Dude” would probably consider a good time. Something tells me the Jeff Bridges character would rather go bowling with a White Russian in hand than go skiing, although the bath robe may be an awesome-looking outer layer for skiing pow. In any case, The Big LePowSki is the name of Black Diamond’s largest ski celebration of the year. In fact, for 2010, the event goes global as it pops up in Switzerland and France along with its Utah location at Brighton.
The Big LePowSki is packed full of clinics, events, parties, gear demos from Black Diamond and Arc’Teryx, a film festival and more. In addition, there will be a Ski Salt Lake shootout fundraiser party to benefit the Billy Poole Fund which introduces kids to the joys of skiing and the outdoors.
Clinics include avalanche beacon workshops, film and photography workshops, freeride ski and snowboard lessons, and women’s steep skiing clinics.
The Big LePowSki takes place on Friday, February 26 through Saturday, February 27 at Brighton. The cost of the event is $75 ($40 for Brighton season ticket holders) which gets you access to all the clinics you choose to participate in.
For a full list of clinics and events, or to register, visit The Big LePowSki online. Registration is at the Black Diamond Store on Friday, February 26 at 6pm. Act fast before tickets are gone.
