Three new television commercials were unveiled by the Utah Office of Tourism at the State Capitol this week, featuring the Ski Utah snowflakes as part of a media campaign to promote Utah’s awesome skiing to the masses around the country.
We all know that Utah has the “greatest snow on earth,” (trademark, copyright, blah blah blah) but supposedly those out-of-staters aren’t in the know and our snowflake TV stars will soon be seen on cable channels starting in January.
The fun part is that the public gets to vote on which commercial sees the light of day. You get to vote for your favorite Ski Utah snowflake ad and the winning commercial will be the lucky one to air between cooking shows on The Food Network, or reality shows about polygamy and midgets on A&E. It’s a big responsibility, so vote wisely.
There are three commercials to choose from and only two will make the cut. Each one features dudes in a snowflake costume, and each one is pretty funny. Without trying to sway anyone’s vote, I personally like the “Hot Tub” commercial the best as it’s the only one that made me laugh. The commercials are all posted at the Utah Office of Tourism Web site (www.visitutah.com) and Ski Utah’s site (www.skiutah.com.) At the Ski Utah site, your vote will give you a chance to win free gear.
Winners will be announced December 17th, 2010.
The top two ads will go on to air from January 2-23, 2011. The networks include: A&E, Bravo, ESPN/ESPN2, Food Network, Fox News, History, MSNBC, National Geographic, Nat Geo Wild, Planet Green, Investigation Discovery, and Discovery Science.
