Canyons opened for the 2010/11 on Friday, December 10th to much fanfare over the new, first-of-its-kind in North America, Orange Bubble Express with heated seats. According to Canyons, the seats are set at a toasty 56 degrees, and judging from people’s reactions on the first day, the Orange Bubble is a hit. The first 100 people to get on the lift were awarded neon orange Oakley goggles, and the stokage bubbled over.
Of course the Orange Bubble Express isn’t the only improvement launched on opening day. Today was also the debut of the newly aligned Red Pine Gondola, and the “ski beach” located in the base village. Later in the season the brand new Iron Mountain terrain will be opened, adding over 300 acres to inbounds slopes.
All of this is part of a multi-year improvement plan that Canyons is undergoing, starting with opening day, 2010.
If you weren’t able to make it to the big opening day at Canyons, watch the two videos below from the SkiUtah.com blogs and see the Orange Bubble in action.
