GoLite is going BareTech. Rather than endorsing completely barefoot running, GoLite is meeting the audience half way. They’re offering a stripped down running shoe with a zero drop heel and enough protection to keep your feet safe, and they showed them off at the Outdoor Retailer 2011 Winter Market.
They’ve turned tradition shoes inside out, literally. The “Soft Against the Ground Technology” puts the soft part of the shoes closer to the ground. The new trail runners are lighter, roomier, and have a high traction rubber out-sole that keeps you sticking to the terrain.
The woman’s SpringLite has a firm platform between the mid-sole and the foot-bed to allow for a smooth ride and reduce rear foot movement by 33%. All GoLite shoes are equipped with the “Precise Fit” system that allows you to customize the shoe to your foot. The removable insole can be modified to narrow, medium or wide feet.
Coming out in July will be the woman’s TaraLite runner. The shoe is based on the Tarahumara runners, that run in thong sandals. Rather than running with your feet exposed in a sandal, the thong has been put inside the shoe. These shoes have the “Sticky Gecko” out-sole, which has over 300 small lugs that are meant to replicate a gecko’s tiny hairs on its feet, and give you excellent traction. These shoes will ship with a pair of thong-like socks developed by Injinji.
