The Outdoor Retailer 2011 Winter Market is fast approaching, and UtahOutside.com is going to be there, checking out all the new gear that will hit store shelves next fall, as well as cool events that catch our eye.
Twice every year, Outdoor Retailer fills the Salt Palace Covention Center, creating a gearhead’s nirvana that can be downright head-spinning. From January 19th through 23rd, over 800 outdoor brands and 7,000 retail buyers will be on the convention floor to see what’s new and to make business deals. But for us media-types, the event is a chance to get a first look at all the innovative new gear, and styles we can look forward to in the coming year, then showing it off to you, our readers.
Below is a preview of what brands we’ll be visiting, and events we’ll be attending. So if any of this sparks your interest, you can check back here for the latest updates.
Outdoor Retailer All Mountain Demo
This year the All Mountain Demo will take place at Solitude Mountain Resort, and we’ll be there to test out the skis everyone will be riding in the near future. We don’t yet know what we’ll get to see, but hopefully local companies like Black Diamond, Voile, Rossignol, and Salomon will be there. We especially hope to get the hyped Salomon BBR skis in our grubby hands for a test drive.
On the Convention Floor
Our schedules are booked already for the Outdoor Retailer 2011 Winter Market, and we’ll be running around like crazy trying to fit as many brand booths into the week. Some of the companies we will be visiting include the following: Salomon, Mountain Hardwear, Patagonia Shoes, Klymit, Easton Mountain Products, Cloudveil, Hydroflask, Suunto, Chaco, Merrell, Supercollar, and Sherpa Adventure Gear, just to name a few.
Outdoor Retailer Events
We’re also going to attend some events this time around, including the Conservation Alliance Breakfast, featuring “The Secret Knowledge of Water” – a special presentation by one of the world’s best outdoor writers, Craig Childs.
We also have plans to attend an outdoor webmasters meetup with several of our friends from other recreation and gear review websites. Hopefully we will down a few pints, get to know each other, and I’ll feature them all right here.
Outdoor Retailer is a busy time for us here at UtahOutside.com, and the 2011 Winter Market is shaping up to be an exciting event as always.
