Glutton for punishment? Then you’ll have lots to chew on if you sign up for the Triple Trail Challenge. The TTC is a multi-sport running event spread over a five-week period. It includes the Jupiter Peak Steeplechase, the Park City Half-Marathon (or Marathon), and the Mid-Mountain Marathon.
This year is the 6th annual Triple Trail Challenge, and it promises to be as brutal as in years past. First, on August 6, runners will run the Jupiter Peak Steeplechase. It’s 16 miles of trail running from the base of Park City Mountain Resort to the top of Jupiter Peak (3,000′ of elevation gain) and then participants have to run back down! This is the 19th year of the Steeplechase, and you can run it without subjecting yourself to the TTC. For more information, visit the Jupiter Peak Steeplechase website.
Then, on August 20, get prepared for the Park City Marathon (the half marathon is sold out as of this writing.) This out-and back course takes runners from the Newpark area in Kimball Junction to the turn around near McPolin barn. For more information please visit Park City Marathon.
Finally, as if you haven’t had enough marathon running, there’s the Mid Mountain Marathon. It’s described as a full marathon distance on the Mid Mountain Trail, a stretch of single-track that begins in Deer Valley, traverses across the mountains through Park City Mountain Resort and The Colony, then ends at The Canyons Resort. It’s a true trail-running marathon with dirt, rocks and roots, but the elevation gain is only from 8100′ at Deer Valley, to 8400′ at The Canyons before it descends to 6800′ in the final 6 miles to the resort base. To register for the Mid-Mountain Marathon, visit the website here.
If you complete all Triple Trail Challenge events, you’ll get the signature fleece jacket embroidered with a patch that will show off your awesome accomplishment.
Registration Fees are as follows:
$175 – Half PC Marathon
